32 years ago, Vanessa WIlliams became the first Miss America to resign her crown due to nude photos that were published in "Penthouse" without her consent. Though the first African American winner of the title went on to have a successful career in the entertainment industry, in 1984 she told People that the scandal was the worst thing that ever happened to her.

Actress and former Miss America Vanessa Williams revealed that she was sexually molested at the age of 10 by an older girl on OWN's Master Class. Williams detailed that the girl performed oral sex on her before she entered the 5th grade. "I had no idea what it was, but I knew it felt good," she says.’I knew it felt good, but was also something that was not supposed to be happening."

She also explains that the incident caused her to be promiscuous early. Williams courage will undoubtedly aid other survivors of childhood sex abuse to find their voices. The shame must end.
