In 2006, 16 year-old Kiri Davis directed the short documentary film "A Girl Like Me" in which she explored the origins of low self-esteem and self-hatred in Black women and girls. Davis cut out the middleman and speaks directly to young women about the trials of Black girlhood. She also recreates the famed "doll test" which was an essential piece of the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling. Take a look. Do you see yourself in these young women?
