Watch Ebony Stewart Tackle Misogyny in Her Ode to Black Women

"Anyone who thinks women are delicate or breakable, can't remember the ways in which they were born."

With words such as these, Ebony Stewart creates "an ode to women and all our glory" called "Eve." She performed the poem at the Spiderhouse Ballroom in Austin, TX. She says she is all things black, woman and magic. A published author, touring performance arts poet, and sexual health educator, she says she got into writing because she had to.

She begins, "Woman does not emerge from man's rib/Not ever/It is he who emerges from her womb." Stewart then proceeds to break down Black women's resilience in the face of gendered expectations.
