Wanda James is the First Black Woman to Own a Marijuana Dispensary in Colorado

In the latest installment of Mic's new show The Movement, host Darnell Moore travels to Colorado to talk to the first and only Black woman to own a legal marijuana dispensary in Colorado. Wanda James owns Simply Pure Dispensary, and she's making history with her venture.

Coloradans passed an initiative legalizing marijuana in 2012, but the legislative victory is complicated by the number of people of color arrested for possession of marijuana.

In the short documentary, we meet Wanda's brother Rick who served years in jail for the offense.
