According to the sibling filmmakers — Director/Writer Chelsea Odufu and Director/Producer Emann Odufu — “Ori Inu: In Search of Self is a coming of age story about a young immigrant woman who must choose between conforming her identity and spirituality to the cultural norms of America or revisiting her roots in the Afro-Brazilian religion called Candomble.”

This morning, Lupita Nyong'o was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress for her role as Patsey in "12 Years A Slave." Lupita is the first Black African woman to be nominated, but surprisingly only five Black women have won Oscars in its 85 year history.

"Belle" is the second film by Black british director Amma Assante. The film will be released by Fox Searchlight pictures this year.

Based on the true story behind the seminal 1779 painting of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the story follows the eponymous character’s conflicted life as a mixed-race girl raised in nobility in 18th century England. The film stars Academy Award nominees Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson and Miranda Richardson alongside rising stars Sarah Gadon, Tom Felton, Sam Reid and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the eponymous Dido.

The premiere of VH1's highly anticipated biopic about 90s girl group TLC will air on October 21. The network has begun releasing previews to give us just a taste of what to expect. The film stars KeKe Palmer, Drew Sidora, and Lil Mama as the style and music icons, and initial reports of the casting had some raising eyebrows.
