Sandra Bland's Mother Speaks On Her Life and the Ongoing Investigation of Her Death

Geneva Read-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland, said in an interview with MSNBC that she does not have confidence in the investigation into her daughter's arrest and death while in police custody.


"I have confidence in God and knowing that he is in control and he is going to reveal the real truth," she said. "Confidence in man I do not have at this point."

Medical examiners have ruled Bland's death a suicide by hanging, and said an official autopsy revealed no evidence of a struggle.

Bland had just accepted a new job, and her mother said, "Her spirits were lifted spirits, she was excited about the next chapter in her life."

Bland's mother also stated she was unaware of any previous attempt by her daughter to take her own life, which her jail intake forms suggest she mentioned occurring last year.
