Sheryl Underwood Apologizes for Her Hurtful Comments on Natural Hair and Reveals Her Own

An apologetic Sheryl Underwood revealed her natural hair after taking a year to reflect on the comments she made about Black hair on "The Talk" in 2013.

Underwood offered controversial comments on Heidi Klum’s practice of saving her bi-racial children’s hair in a zip-lock bag. "Why would you save afro hair? You can’t weave in afro hair!” she said.

On Monday's episode Underwood apologized for the comments and opened up about her own hair journey.

"To come out of the mouth of a very proud black woman—I was wrong. I wanted to take the time to apologize, especially in the forum that this discussion occurred," Sheryl explained of her previous statements.

Julie Chen read a statement from Sheryl, "I want to apologize for my recent attempt at humor that missed the target and hit my people squarely in the heart. To all of you, I say I'm very sorry for my failed attempt at humor surrounding something that is very sensitive to us, our hair."

Underwood revealed that although she often wears wigs, she cut off all of her hair and started a natural hair journey last year.
