Black Women Challenge European Beauty Standards in This Mini Documentary

Last year, New York Times writer Alessandra Stanley described Emmy winning actress Viola Davis as “less classically beautiful” compared to other Black actresses. This comment sparked outrage within the Black community and director Quest decided to do something about it.

Quest teamed up with Coal Crown Creative to curate a filmed discussion on what it means to be a “classic black woman.” “There is power in the voice, we manifest the things we speak about,” Quest said in a recent statement shared with AfroPunk. The mini-doc features a diverse group of Black women of all shapes, sizes, complexions, and personalities and displays the  internal and external beauty of black women.
