Generation Soweto Illustrates World of South African Millennials

A new documentary, Generation Soweto, takes a look at South African millennials and how the country has changed in the two decades since the end of apartheid.

The film, from Nisa Ahmad, follows four South African millennials and explores the job market, rising cost of living, gentrification, innovation, and the challenges and triumphs of today's young South Africans.

Ahmad is committed to finishing production on the film, and is currently attempting to raise $80,000 to do so. She's funded the project so far via her personal savings and credit cards because she feels the story is an important one that is worth telling. "I have put myself out on a limb for a project that I believe in,” she says.
