Nairobi's Boxgirls Knock Out Stereotypes and Empower Young Women

Broadly spent a day with Nairobi’s Boxgirls to explore how boxing has empowered young women in the community to fight back against sexual violence.

The short documentary, "Nairobi's Boxgirls Fight Back" follows this community in Kenya as it deviates from gender norms and begins to teach girls how to fight back.

"Founded in 2008 by professional boxers, Boxgirls has helped equip women with knowledge of their rights and the skills they need to defend themselves against rape. The outreach program has since changed the perception of what girls can do in the community and It now reaches 1,200 girls in the area."
