A toddler in Oklahoma City was raped while her mother attended class. She later died of internal injuries and other injuries that indicated sexual assault.

Supermodel Beverly Johnson made news in December 2014 with her Vanity Fair essay revelation that Bill Cosby had drugged her in 1986. On Monday, the Associated Press released 2005 deposition documents in which Cosby admitted he had obtained drugs in order to give them to women he intended to rape.

16-year-old Jada took a brave stand when images of her sexual assault were mocked online.  Two young men were recently arrested for her rape.

For years many of us called on 'Saturday Night Live' to add a Black woman to its cast. Sasheer Zamata was hired as a cast member in January and LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones joined the writer's room. But unfortunately it seems the presence of Black women's bodies has only emboldened the long-running variety show to make tasteless jokes that they otherwise would have avoided.

Last weekend on her eponymous show, Melissa Harris-Perry responded to a letter sent to her from a young woman who attends Spelman College about the ongoing investigation of a rape that took place at Morehouse. Here's an excerpt:

“My fellow Spelman sisters are so concerned about Morehouse’s reputation being tainted, they’re not focused on the true issues here involving humanity, the sacredness of a woman’s body, and the fact that we are our sisters’ keeper.”
